In English: subjunctive II (the unreal and polite mood)
The mood for what is not real: wishes, unreal conditions, and polite requests. It covers English „would“, „could“ and „if I were“. The key forms are wäre, hätte, könnte, and würde plus infinitive for most other verbs.
Example: Wenn ich Zeit hätte, käme ich mit. Könnten Sie mir helfen?
