In English: adjective used as a noun

An adjective or participle that becomes a noun. It is written with a capital letter but keeps its adjective endings, so the ending changes with the article and the case: der Deutsche, ein Deutscher.

Example: Ein Bekannter von mir wohnt in Wien. Der Bekannte heißt Emil.
