In English: participial attribute (extended participle phrase)

A participle used as an adjective before a noun, with everything that belongs to it placed between the article and the noun. It replaces a relative clause in formal writing. To read it, jump from the article to the noun, then go back.

Example: Der gestern in Bern angekommene Zug ... (= der Zug, der gestern in Bern angekommen ist)
