In English: subordinate clause

A clause that cannot stand alone and depends on a main clause. It starts with a word such as weil, dass, wenn, ob or obwohl, the conjugated verb goes to the very end, and a comma separates it from the main clause. If it comes first, the main clause starts with its verb.

Example: Ich bleibe zu Hause, weil ich krank bin.
