der Dativ

In English: dative (indirect object case)

The case of the indirect object, the person who receives something. It answers wem?. The articles are dem, der, dem, and den + -n on the noun in the plural. Some verbs (helfen, danken, gehören) and prepositions (mit, bei, nach, zu, von, aus, seit) always take it.

Example: Ich gebe dem Kind einen Apfel. Wir helfen den Nachbarn.
