der Genitiv

In English: genitive (possession case)

The case that shows possession or belonging, like the English 's or of. It answers wessen?. Masculine and neuter use des + -s or -es on the noun; feminine and plural use der. It also follows wegen, trotz, während.

Example: Das ist das Fahrrad meines Bruders. (That is my brother's bicycle.)
