In English: suffix
A part added to the end of a word to build a new word. A noun suffix often tells you the gender: -ung, -heit, -keit, -schaft are feminine, -chen and -lein are neuter.
Example: Die Wohnung ist hell. Die Freundschaft ist wichtig.
