Sentence

der Satz

In English: sentence / clause

A group of words built around a conjugated verb. German uses the same word for a whole sentence and for a single clause. The type of clause decides where the verb goes: second in a main clause, last in a subordinate clause.

Example: Ich bleibe zu Hause, weil es regnet.
