In English: inversion (subject after the verb)
When something other than the subject takes position 1, the subject moves directly behind the verb, because the verb must stay second. English keeps subject then verb („Today I am working“); German cannot.
Example: Heute arbeite ich nicht. (Not: Heute ich arbeite nicht.)
